Jonathan’s Bio

Jonathan Pennington is a Broadway World, People Choice, and Globe Award-winning producer of Broadway Shows, locally, NYC credits, and Texas productions of Rock of Ages, the revival of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, and Alfred Hitchcocks’ ‘The 39 Steps. He most current works as not only the stage writer, but also the producer and director of the exhilarating live performances of the interactive murder mystery comedy Lady of Burlesque, the Vaudeville Show Bohemia!, as well as classic novel adaptions of Lewis Carroll’s Alice, Peter Pan, and Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol/Scrooge. In addition, he has been a performer in New York City along side Laura Kenyon of NBC’s SMASH in The Last Day of June, also under the direction of Gerry Geddes in The Late Nite Drive-in Picture Show a The Duplex Cabaret Theatre in the West Village, among others.  Pennington has directed over 170 Broadway musical works including RENT, My Fair Lady, Avenue Q, Disney’s Mary Poppins (People’s Choice for Best Musical), Hairspray, The Rocky Horror Show, A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline, Xanadu, Sweeney Todd, All Shook Up, Cats, and many more.

Off-Broadway projects include June Cool Alive! (Pangea) and reprising his Cabaret show once again at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre with The Late Nite Drive-in Picture ShowHe is currently producing and directing another Cabaret Show in New York City with vocalist Joshua Edward’s called From The Duplex With Love: A Cabaret Journey of the Heart, as well as under the direction for his new Cabaret show Songs That Saved Me From Myself: A Q & A Cabaret.

Jonathan is on the Board of Directors of the Roxie Theatre Company and works as a consultant for other theatre companies.
